Maks — Director, Photographer & Editor
My name is Maks, and I am a director, photographer, and editor based in Moscow, Russia.
Today, I have been working in photography and filmmaking for four years. I am especially drawn to night photography and cinematic imagery. I love finding beauty in darkness — in streets, spaces, light, and shadows. Through my work, I aim to reveal the genuine beauty of people and show what is often hidden beneath the surface.
Over the years, I have worked with more than 50 musicians, including Oneheart, Call Me Karizma, Sheba, and Lil Moregun. My portfolio includes four short films, two music videos, more than 20 cover artworks, and over 100 snippets, as well as collaborations with 10 record labels.
My work has been published in Vogue, Moevir, Iconic, Dehazed, Fienfh, and other print and digital magazines, including Instagram publications with audiences of over one million followers. I also co-founded the web magazine Soulnightmag.
My work has been presented at exhibitions in Russia, Paris, and New York. I currently collaborate with brands such as s Amaran, Nanlite, Fujifilm, WalkingWays, TTArtisan, and Brightin Star.
My main goal remains the same: to look beyond the obvious, find beauty in unexpected places, and reveal something real and extraordinary in n every person and every space.
About Photography
I started doing photography in May 2022. I borrowed a camera from my cameraman (thanks to Lesha) and started taking pictures at once of what was close to my soul. I didn’t take any training, I tried to learn everything intuitively and through guides on YouTube. At first, the ideas were not quite perfect for me, so I was upset, but at that time there were a lot of people supporting me, and I continued to do what I am in love with to this day.

About directing
I had no doubts about who I would apply to from the age of 13-14. I didn’t even consider any other options. Cinema is really something magical, but at the same time it is really insanely complex and versatile. This is where we met characters. One day you curse the whole pre-production and hate the whole thing, and the next you’re already running around the site with burning eyes and trying to stop the moment of creation of worlds.
